An electric dirt bike is great for riding in areas around the house. That means forests and trails. Regular bikes are far too loud. But the electric bikes are whisper quiet. That’s why it’s becoming popular.
An electric dirt bike can be costly. All things equal, an electric bike will cost more than a like gas bike. These bikes have a short range. They travel about 40 miles per charge. That’s only a 2 hour ride. People enjoy riding for the whole day. There are no power outlets on a trail.
Serious dirt bikers see the electric dirt bike as a passing fad. They believe it will pass. A magazine writer said it would be good as a second bike but not a primary bike. But other people call them sexy and fun.
It was 2002 when Zero’s founder got interested in an electric dirt bike. He became a motorcycle designer shortly after working as an engineer. He doesn’t believe electric is boring. He custom designed every part of his bike.
The important issue with an electric dirt bike is its battery. It’s not easy to keep them cool. Zero had to develop a quick cooling material to surround the batteries. The pack that they came up with costs nearly $4,000 to replace. It lasts for six years. A full charge takes only 2 hours. That is quick. The bike can go 0 to 30 in under 2 seconds. Many riders like that performance.
Speaking of costs, the zero is about $7,000, this electric dirt bike also costs $300 to ship. The company only sells it online. The company wants to become a huge concern
