Drilling Anwar
Drilling ANWaR is a touchy subject. People are passionate on both sides of the issue. They’ll often write about their take online.
Jimmy Carter created ANWaR as a reserve in Alaska. He also left open the possibility of drilling there, but only with congressional approval. The pursuit of that approval is often the issue. Congressmen have to face this every time they run for office.
Here’s a guy with an anti drilling ANWaR opinion. We need places like ANWaR in this country. Don’t ruin it.
Other people are all for drilling ANWaR. They disagree that it will harm the wilderness. One said this in an email: To say we can destroy nature is arrogant. We won’t harm any carribou by drilling. It just won’t happen.
A possible answer to that is tell the cuckoo bird that nature always finds a way. In the case of that bird, nature found a way to go extinct. Although maybe if the cuckoo had oil, it would have been able to drive a car to safety.
Recently Senator John McCain discussed allowing drilling ANWaR while he ran for President. He said there are safe and clean ways to reach the oil there. He said it would be limited to a small area. It should be tried.
He lost twice when he asked the people to make him President. But he can vote for drilling ANWaR whenever he wants from his seat in the Senate.
Some people get angry over the subject of drilling ANWaR. What if I wanted something out of your house? What if I set up drilling equipment to block you from getting to the kitchen? You wouldn’t like it.
But people aren’t animals and the wilderness isn’t a house.
This issue isn’t going to end soon. The search for oil continues as the need for oil continues to grow. Would you allow drilling ANWaR if it were your decision?
